Airease Heat Pump Reviews | Consumer Ratings - Airease offers split system heat pumps from single-stage up to variable capacity high-efficiency models that offer premium performance. HSPF ratings for Airease heat pumps range from 8.5 for their baseline model up to 10 HSPF for the premium model.
HSPF is a way of measuring heat pump efficiency and translates to Heat Seasonal Performance Factor. HSPF only measures the efficiency of the heat pump in heating mode. In cooling mode, SEER is used to measure the efficiency of the heat pump.
Airease Heat Pump Reviews | Consumer Ratings
Airease breaks its systems down into three basic models:
- Variable-Capacity Performance offers the highest efficiency ratings
- Two-Stage Performance offers mid-range efficiency levels
- And Single-Stage Performance is the no-frills baseline model for Airease

Variable-Capacity Performance Model | Airease Heat Pump Reviews
The Variable-Capacity model offers an inverter-driven scroll compressor that modulates based on demand. That offers precision control and results in energy savings from the standard single-stage models, which will only run at one speed, 100%. While single-stage air conditioners and heat pumps are the most common, they are also the least efficient. The systems will turn on and run at 100%, satisfy the thermostat (temperature setting), and then turn on again.
A lot of electricity usage happens on startup with single-stage systems. With variable-capacity inverter systems, this reduction of amperage (electricity use) through the soft-start control of the system, which results in less electricity usage. Additionally, a variable capacity system only runs at the speed necessary to satisfy demand.
Two-Stage Performance | Airease Heat Pump Reviews
While two-stage heat pumps are not as efficient as the variable-capacity models, they are more efficient than single-stage models. At the heart of the two-stage system is the two-stage scroll compressor. The two-stage system will run at 100% only on the heavy demand days or the hottest or coldest of days. At other times, when low demand will satisfy the setpoint temperature, the system will run at the lower stage saving in electricity usage. Of course, proper setup is necessary including a two-stage thermostat which should be installed with the new system.
Single-Stage Performance | Airease Heat Pump Reviews
For the budget-minded, there are the Airease single-stage heat pump models. Of course, this is for the budget-minded on initial system purchase. The single-stage system is not the most economical system when it comes to operating costs. Despite that, the baseline Airease heat pump does offer a 15 SEER efficiency rating, which is likely higher than the SEER rating of the current model you now own. That would be an improvement over what you are currently using for heating and cooling.
Air Source Heat Pump Tips | Dual Fuel Heating
A dual fuel heat pump is a heat pump with a gas furnace for backup heating rather than electric heat strips.
Air source heat pumps have a backup heating source. In most installations, the backup heating source is electric heat strips. Electric heat strips are very cheap to install in most cases. However, while electricity is generally regarded as 100% efficient, producing it is more costly than other heating methods. For a more efficient heat pump, consider a dual fuel heat pump, or a heat pump with a gas furnace for the backup heat source. It will be more costly to install, but your monthly bills will be reduced.

Installation Considerations - Airease Heat Pump Consumer Ratings
It doesn’t matter which model or brand name you choose to purchase the most important part of buying a new HVAC system, even heat pumps, is a competent HVAC contractor. Proper installation is essential to the proper operation and longevity of the HVAC system.
It all begins with doing a proper load calculation and evaluation of the older components in the system. The ductwork, electrical system, and refrigeration line set are considerations for upgrade and replacement when purchasing new equipment.

I have 2 airease heat pumps on my house, the reversing valve on one of the units failed and lost all the refrigerant. Unit is under warranty but the valve is back ordered and this valve is pretty much not replaceable anyway. so now I’m being told I’ll have to replace the unit at my own expense.Considering the unit is under warranty I think airease should be sending out a tech to replace valve or send me a new unit. Will not recommend this product
Purchased a Air-Ease in 2012. Was told it was as good as a Lennox even made by Lennox. Since I’ve had it I’ve had to have it serviced every year and mostly 2 times a year. In the last 10 years I have had to go without heat or air conditioning for at least 2 months total or more while waiting on repairs and parts during the 10 years. The amount of money spent on service calls I could have bought another unit. I often check to see if there has been a recall on my Air-Ease unit. I would not recommend Air-Ease at all. As for being quiet that’s a joke. Now I want to say that the Serviceman that has done the repairs I would let him work on another unit if I had one but a serviceman can only do so much for a Lemon.
Worst HVAC system I have ever owned. Heat pump and air handler installed in December and have had nothing but problems for the 9 months since then. Constant low pressure lockouts. Won’t get up to temperature on heat mode. Air blows constantly when on heat. Have already had the TXV and coils completely replaced. Just an absolute piece of junk. AVOID AIREASE AT ALL COSTS!
Exactly!!! My husband was concerned about the Air-Ease since he had not heard of that brand and the Dealer said that Lennox made it and it had good ratings plus it cost less. So that’s what he went with. I guess you get what you pay for.
By far the most efficient and quietest heat pump that I have ever owned. Quality product for sure.
