Air Handler Features | Armstrong Air Conditioner Reviews
Nearly every air handler in existence has a problem with mold and mildew as inside the air handler it is dark and usually moist. Sometimes this becomes a problem that needs to be corrected because the drain pan under the evaporator coil can become clogged with mold and mildew and other undesirable fungi. Armstrong microban drain pan helps reduce this problem inside the air handler. Various features of Armstrong Air Handlers are:
Select Armstrong air handlers available to be fitted with electric heat strips.

Questions for the Dealer/Salesman:
Since this is a communicating system can the thermostat be wired for a legacy/conventional thermostat in the event of the failure of the communicating thermostat?
Do you offer an extended warranty that covers parts and labor?

Warranties | Armstrong Air Conditioner Consumer Ratings
Armstrong has HVAC industry average warranties for their equipment. With any HVAC manufacturer warranty understand it is a limited parts warranty. This means they pay for the part but you pay for the labor. We always recommend extended labor warranties to match the term of the parts warranty. This is especially recommended if you buy the premium models. Premium models are more complex and will require a skilled technician to troubleshoot the problem. With a part and labor warranty, you don’t have to worry. Extended labor warranties may be available. Ask the salesman before purchasing.
They were founded in 1928 in Columbus, Ohio by Lennox, the maker of other air conditioning and heating products. Lennox sold the company and name brand and then later reacquired the company and brand so they are officially owned by Lennox. They manufacturer air conditioning and heating equipment in Orangeburg, South Carolina where they have a state-of-the-art facility designed to produce quality air conditioning and heating products. They believe in quality and run-test every piece of equipment before it leaves its factory.

Our air conditioner is only 3 years old. It has leaked into our basement. Our contractor and distributor has been trying to get a coil replacement for weeks with no results. We cant complete repairs to ac or damage to the ceiling. Being told it’s a manufacturing issue
they’re not made by us (this website has no affiliation with Armstrong) we simply provide a forum for consumers. But, Armstrong, if they haven’t changed recently, to the best of my knowledge, are made in South Carolina. There are owned by Lennox Industries which also makes the Lennox brand.

We have a 4 ton system that was replaced about 4 years ago along with the matching air handler and works great. The LE series we have has a compressor blanket for sound insulation and the Copeland Scroll compressor with a 10 year warranty. The grey cabinet looks great and is similar to the more expensive Lennox units. Can’t beat the price for what you get. Also, the sister brands made by Armstrong/Lennox are Air Ease, Concord, and Ducane, and should be as reliable. Just another way to market the same product in different markets.

HVAC Tip - Carbon monoxide detectors are important to own for those people who burn fossil fuels for heat. Carbon monoxide is a flammable, colorless, odorless, tasteless toxic gas produced during incomplete combustion of fuel - Natural Gas, Oil, Coal, Wood, Kerosene, etc. Someone suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning generally has severe headaches, nausea, and sinus problems. These symptoms generally begin with mild effects and people usually remain unaware of what the exact problems are until, sometimes, it is too late. How many cracked heat exchangers or faulty furnaces are out there that no one knows anything about except a slight headache and nausea? Don't take any chances, get your carbon monoxide detector and call your local heating and air conditioning company for a heater inspection today. Read more on this subject on the Furnace Page.
