We had our house built in late 2015, the builder uses Goodman units, probably cause they are cheap. So the weather is changing so I switched to a/c and of course, it did not cool. Called the repair company that actually installed the system, the technician told me that all the freon has leaked out due to a rub through due to poor manufacturing. They soldered the copper tubing too close together and caused the leak. So I called Goodman and the “customer specialist” told me that it a limited warranty that only covers the failed part. No labor and no feon, even though it was the poor workmanship that caused the leak. Needless to say, if I’m ever in need of an air-conditioning system, I will not use any thing made by Goodman.
Don’t buy this unless you want to cease all interpersonal conversations in your home. It is so noisy that all talking is drowned out. When it goes on, my cats look at the vents to see what is happening. I can hear all over a large house where this is a second unit for half of the residence. 24 hours and I regret, regret, regret this choice. It may prove to be efficient and long lasting, but it has already proven itself to be the noisest heat pump in 76 yeears I have ever experienced.
NEVER BUY GOODMAN WORST AIR CONDITIONER HAS NOT WORK PROPERLY TECHNICIAN KEEPS COMING TO MY HOUSE THE FIRST YEAR IT WAS INSTALLED AT LEAST 5 TIMES NOT COOLING WEAKLING WATER MY CEILING IS DAMAGED BAD UNIT SO DISAPPOINTED DOES NOT COOL MY HOUSE GOODMAN NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OF THE MARKET
Why would a company sell products that don’t last, or cost more money to keep them going. My new 3 ton unit had to have frieon the first year, cost $250. Now the compressor has went completely out. Less than 3 years old, they charging $900 to replace it. Its under warranty. Why would a company sell bad units, and don’t stand by there units. Very dissatisfied customer. You should have a heart, or stop selling bad units.
Replaced two Rheem units eight years ago with Goodman AC. The Rheem units lasted 23 years. One Goodman unit locked up after one year and replaced compressor under warranty. Of course, had to pay installation. Yesterday, the unit on the other side of the house locked up and now I must replace the entire unit. These units are garbage!!! Just read Goodman reviews. They are horrible!!! Of course, Goodman blames poor installation, naturally. Stay away!!! You will be sorry!!!
I installed a 4 ton new goodman two years before, this week i heard a noise inside the air handler, when I opened everything is rusty and broken. Now i have to deal with the dealer for the warranty. Goodman is crap!!!!!
We own a Goodman, and have been more pleased. We had a professional, experienced contractor install the unit and have not had any issues in the 10 years later we’ve had it. The contractor comes out and inspects the unit prior to the summer season. Professional installation, Maintenance, including changing the filters will make the difference in any unit.
We bought a house in 2010, it had a 2 ton unit that was a year and a half old. Last year it started leaking, I tried to get a replacement compressor but Goodman won’t stand behind the warranty. After reading the reviews on here I am convinced that Goodman AC units are pieces of junk. They don’t last through their warranty and they wont even let you use your warranty. Don’t buy a Goodman unit.
2 stage system 18 seer unit, Goodman. Had to replace coil before the first year. The humidity control does not work. Probably had 15 visits from repair person, trying to get dehumidifier to work, had to replace coolant before they found hole in coil. Among other “minor” issues. Really feel I have a lemon but contractor says all this issue had been minor adjustment. Will not buy again. Pay the extra money and get a higher grade unit!!
Do not purchase Goodman products. Had a brand new 14 seer unit (inside and outside) installed in January 2018. This past weekend it stopped cooling and the outside unit froze up. The technician found a leak in the coils in the indoor unit. Parts are covered under warranty so that’s something. But the almost $1000 in freon we’ve had to shell out in the last few days because of the leak in the coil is not covered. But the girl I talked to from Goodman told me “sorry, it’s not covered.” in a very polite manner. That’s about all the good I can say.
My 18 year old heil central a/c unit finally died on 4th of July weekend, had it replaced with a Goodman GSX 14 seer 3.5 ton unit. I did not want anything fancy just a basic unit to keep the house comfortable. So far the a/c unit is working perfectly light years a head of the old unit. I did go on Goodman website to register the a/c unit condenser for the 10 yr warranty. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it will last at least 15 yrs.
I moved in my home sixteen years ago,I have had a bitter taste about Goodman all this time.Three months in, the compressor had to be replaced, almost every year since then when the weather change I have to pay out money .Being a senior now ,I ask you to replace my unit with a new one at no cost to me. By the way the unit was new when I moved in,sixteen years is a long time so I know your units has gotten better.I live on a fixed income now and I cannot afford anything anymore.I have a friend I call Art, so I need my heat.I had to pay out 65.00 this morning,if he comes back it will be300.00.MAKE ME HAPPY.|
Bought our house in June 2014, had a goodman AC system already there. In Sept 2014, the ‘A’ coil was leaking. Replaced the entire inside unit with a goodman for around $1800. In Oct 17, the new ‘A’ coil is leaking freon again. R22 is about $75 a pound now so this warrenty repair will cost around $800 with labor and I’m being told we won’t get the new coil from the factory for at least a month. Pulling the goodman out and putting in a R410 unit. This is the last goodman AC I will ever be involved with. Buyer beware when dealing with Goodman.
I have a 4 ton No Good man air conditioner in my Florida business that has a evap coil failure under warranty. Apparently there are so many failures that No Good man is recalling them and being sued due to the excessive amount of failures. Everyone knows how hot it is in Florida in the summer and without A/C, working in a closed space with no ventilation is an absolute punishment. Well, my local A/C company advises me that the evap coil is covered under warranty BUT the labor and refrigerant are not but not to worry…for a mere $700 they’ll replace the coil and the refrigerant. Ok… it’s HOT and MISERABLE so I’ll pay WHATEVER just to get the shop comfortable so the employees can work again. I call No Good man and I BEG them to expedite the shipping at my cost. Their reply is a flat No! I have to call my local A/C company and ask them to ask the distributor to ask No Good man for faster delivery options. I called the local company and they called the distributor who called No Good man and the response was again a flat No! They’ll ship it ground service and whenever it gets there, it gets there. So I’m willing to pay for overnight delivery and they won’t be bothered to make even a little effort to provide faster delivery so my employees can get back to work. Bottom line.No Good man’s evap coil failed, my business and employees lost at least a week of work. I’m out $700 to replace their shoddy product and they don’t give a crap! NEVER NEVER NEVER buy No Good man products! Their is a very good reason No Good man products cost less. It’s because they are cheaply made and their is NO customer service.
I bought a Goodman Air conditioner in 2012. It cost me $2800. It broke down four times in 2 and a half years. Every time the weather changed, it stopped working. I threw it out and bought a Lennox. No more problems.

My husband and I bought this house two years ago and as a part of the contract we had them replace the old air conditioner and gas furnace because the home inspector said what was in there was junk and likely not very reliable. So the previous owner replaced everything with Goodman units. I think they could be more efficient we haven’t had any problems with these units. I think the previous owner just got the cheapest he could buy because the efficiency is not so great. Our neighbors gas bill is about half what ours is so I know it could be better. Lesson learned…….replace it with what you want and not an el cheapo someone else buys. What we have is reliable it just could of been better if it was has better efficinecy.
We had a Goodman that was old when we moved into this house. We replaced it with another Goodman and have a few minor problems with it but it was covered by warranty except for labor in one case. One a capacitor went out and the fan stopped working and the other was a small freon leak coming from the connection where the tech hooks his hoses up. The contractor took care of the leak for no charge saying it was probably one his techs didn’t install the valve properly when he installed the unit. It keeps our house nice and cool in the summer and nice and warm in the winter. We got it new 3 years ago and hopefully we won’t have any other problems.
