Boiler Components Controls – HVAC Hydronics

Boiler Components - ControlsBoiler Components Controls - All hot water boilers must have an expansion tank. Water expands when it is heated. There must be a place for it to expand so that the pressure in the boiler loop remains constant. Without a hot water boiler expansion tank, the pressures in the boiler loop system would vary wildly.

Most likely, the pressure will exceed the maximum pressures designed for the boiler hot water loop system. This will result in setting off the pressure relief valve. (more…)

Ceiling Fan in a Garage | HVAC Airflow

Ceiling Fan in a Garage
Ceiling Fan in a Garage | HVAC Airflow –
This ceiling fan keeps the air moving in a large garage where repairs are made to heavy machinery. In addition to providing a level of comfort by keeping the air moving in the shop the ceiling fan also helps to keep noxious fumes at higher elevations and moving towards the exhaust fans so the noxious fumes from heavy equipment can be removed from the shop area. Heat Trace Tape Control for HVAC Piping

Heat Trace Tape Control for HVAC PipingHeat Trace Tape Control for HVAC Piping - HVAC Piping systems, especially in the Northern regions, need a way to freeze protect piping the runs outdoor which is a necessity in many different HVAC application. To protect HVAC piping from freezing heat trace tape is wound around the pipe and controlled by an outdoor thermostat or temperature control that energizes the heat trace tape and keeps the pipe from freezing. Domestic Hot Water Mixing Valve and Domestic Storage Tank

Domestic Hot Water Mixing Valve and Domestic Storage Tank
Domestic Hot Water Mixing Valve and Domestic Storage Tank - This domestic hot water mixing valve offers a way to temper the hot water coming from a hydronic hot water loop and boiler. It is very important to maintain the appropriate and desirable temperatures of water used for domestic water use.

First, you want to maintain a safe temperature so people are not scalded by extremely hot water temperatures. Once the temperature is safe it needs to be reliable. Since the boilers operate or are on standby 24/7 - 365, the availability is there to reliably make domestic hot water on demand. (more…)

Heating Oil Types | HVAC Heating

Heating Oil Refinery PipelineThere are different types of heating oil. The main type of heating oil used in most homes and commercial applications is “number two” heating oil. Number six heating oil is rarely used and is being phased out of use because it contains a lot of sulfur and other pollutants. Number two heating oil is designed to work with your oil furnace or boiler. (more…)

Furnace and Boiler Oil Filters | HVAC Heating

Furnace and Boiler Oil Filters | HVAC HeatingFurnace and Boiler Oil Filters - Oil burner oil filters are important to keep trash out of the burner gun and plugging the nozzle. A dirty filter can also choke the system from firing properly by preventing the correct amount of oil flow from reaching the nozzle. Oil furnace oil filters or oil boiler oil filters should be changed on at least an annual basis. More if the oil or oil tank is of poor quality. It is also recommended that the oil furnace or oil boiler be shut down when oil delivery is made.

Old Leaking Condenser Coils

Old Leaking Condenser Coils

Old coil with HVAC Refrigerant Leaks

Old Leaking Condenser Coils (also referred to as freon leaks) can cause serious issues with HVAC heat pump equipment. HVAC refrigeration circuits are designed and built to hold the refrigerant. It is a sealed hermetic system. The HVAC refrigeration circuit should never need refrigerant. An HVAC refrigeration system does not burn refrigerant. The refrigerant is used over and over again to move heat from one place to another. Aside from a leak, once the refrigeration system is properly charged, the system should never need refrigerant for the life of the equipment. (more…)

Infrared Heating System

Infrared Radiant Heating Systems | Garage Heaters

Infrared Radiant Heating systems provide comfortable heat in larger areas and spaces such as garages, warehouses, and other open spaces where other types of heating systems are not practical or efficient. Infrared radiant heat works through thermal radiation transmitting heat to large objects including floors and walls.

These large objects heat up through thermal radiation and then release that heat to the surrounding air through convection making the open space or open area comfortable for the occupants. (more…)
