Home Humidity Control | Why Its Important for Comfort & Health

Home Humidity Control | Why Its Important for Comfort & Health - Humidity is important to our home and health and it is important to maintain the correct humidity in our homes and workplaces for our health. What is humidity? Humidity is simply little water droplets in the air. Cold air is nearly saturated with these little water droplets because the contents of cold air allow the air to hold more water droplets or humidity. As air is heated it expands and holds less humidity. (more…)

Home Humidity Problems Maintaining Proper Humidity | HVAC Health

Home Humidity Problems - HIGH HUMIDITY 60 % +. Within the last month, I moved into a new house. It has drywall and not plaster walls. The furnace and hot water tank were installed a week or so before we moved into the house. Last week we determined that there is a humidity issue when the windows were sweating. We are trying to determine the source of the humidity. The contractor feels it may be the high-efficiency furnace. I have a Lennox g61mp. The combustion air is pulled from within the unfinished basement. Should the air be pulled from the outside? The gases are vented via PVC pipe which slopes back to the furnace. (more…)

Rooftop Economizer CO2 | HVAC Control

Rooftop Economizer CO2Rooftop Economizer CO2 | HVAC Control – This damper is part of a free cooling system for a rooftop economizer. It is part of an economizer damper system that allows free outside air cooling when the outside air temperature and humidity are ideal. This economizer also works on CO2 control so that if the CO2 levels inside the space rise above a set point the economizer damper opens allowing fresh outside air into the building while venting the air laden with CO2 to the outside. HVAC Damper Actuator for Economizer Free Cooling

HVAC Damper Actuator for Economizer Free CoolingHVAC Damper Actuator for Economizer Free Cooling - This damper actuator controls a free cooling damper for an economizer. It is part of an economizer damper system which allows free outside air cooling when the outside air temperature and humidity are ideal. In the Fall and the Spring when the outside air temperatures are mild it is unnecessary to run the air conditioning system to cool the building if the system is set up for free cooling. (more…)

Rooftop Air Handler with Heat Recovery

Rooftop Air Handler with Integral Heat RecoveryRooftop Air Handler with Heat Recovery  - This large rooftop air handling unit also has a heat recovery wheel integrated inside the AHU itself. The all-in-one AHU and heat recovery unit saves energy by recovering heat. The heat would otherwise be vented outside in the wintertime. Additionally, in the summer it removes heat from the air that is used for economizer and minimum outside air. (more…)

Outside Air Temperature-Humidity Sensor | HVAC Control

Outside Air Temperature-Humidity Sensor Outside Air Temperature-Humidity Sensor  - The outside air temperature sensor uses a thermistor to read the outside temperature. This sensor also senses humidity using a humidity transducer. The temperature and humidity readings are collected by a direct digital control system and used in a program. Aside from using this information for user interfaces, the information is also used in a control program to open and close an outside air damper.  (more…)

Helping Your Air Conditioner – Beating the Heat

Helping Your Air Conditioner - Beating the Heat - The new house you just bought is not so cool and the air conditioner seems to run all the time. You begin to worry that maybe something is wrong with the air conditioner. You tolerate it for a while until your spouse broaches the subject a few hours later. Both of you discuss the matter and come to the conclusion that something is wrong with the air conditioner. (more…)

Dual Two-Stage Split System with a Dual Slab Coil

Dual Two-Stage Split System with a Dual Slab Coil. Huh?

Dual Two-Stage Split System with a Dual Slab Coil
Richard - Very nice site!- Dual Two-Stage Split System with a Dual Slab Coil - I have a question; my home was fitted out by the previous owner with a twinned system, and a thermostat (Totaline P374-1900) which was not designed to control discreet, paired units. I confirmed this with Totaline. The result is only one unit runs, and the second unit is never activated. It functions, but not automatically.
