Actuators for Chilled Water Valve - These chilled water actuators control the flow rate for a chilled water system in a data center. There are various sequences of operations for chilled water systems and the sequence of operations is usually always different from one chiller plant to another chiller plant. (more…)
Hot Water Unit Heater Protecting Mechanical Room - Unit heaters are used in various places to protect equipment and provide comfort to occupants. This hot water unit heater provides protection for a mechanical room where there is a large air handler and other associated equipment in the mechanical room. This system is controlled by DDC. A thermostat on the wall detects the temperature of the mechanical room. (more…)
DDC Integration | HVAC DDC Controls - This is an electrical project which is in the process of changing the old control system to a new DDC control system. Installing new controls in an occupied building takes plenty of planning to avoid interruption in air conditioning or heating. The old control system was a basic electro-mechanical control system which little more than just basic building management control.
SCADA Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition - SCADA Gear in a large data center provides supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) to maintain electrical and mechanical equipment. SCADA System is used in many different industries for controls and security including DDC HVAC Controls. SCADA systems are an integration of PLC controls and offer an interface for technicians to monitor and control the equipment. SCADA can also be integrated with a DDC system and can offer remote monitoring over a network or internet. (more…)
HVAC Tip - A thermocouple is commonly used in standing pilot gas furnaces and water heaters are technically referred to as a copple element and produces millivolts when heat is applied to the tip. This millivoltage is necessary to keep the pilot valve inside the gas valve open. If the pilot flame goes out, the thermocouple stops generating millivolts. Without the millivolts, the valve closes thus preventing gas from escaping when there is no flame. Thermocouples fail because of oxidation. It is recommended that you keep the pilot lit throughout the year to prevent excess oxidation. The thermocouple can be found in many different types of gas furnaces, gas logs, and gas water heaters.
