Ruud is owned by Rheem Manufacturing and Rheem Manufacturing Company was established in the 1920s by Richard and Donald Rheem when the two brothers bought a galvanizing plant in San Francisco, CA. In the ’40s and ’50s, Rheem expanded its core product line of water heaters to include HVAC products such as air conditioning and heating equipment. Rheem has expanded and is now a global company with offices in Europe, Australia, Canada, Asia, and South America. Rheem is currently owned by Japanese water heater manufacturer Paloma.

I bought a Ruudglas Pacemaker solar water heater. Just after the warranty expired, it started leaking glycol and water, requiring the replacement of the whole unit. Despite it clearly a defect in the product, Ruud offered no help whatsoever because it is a few months out of warranty. If you are thinking of getting a Ruud solar water heater, I would keep shopping. They do not support their products.
We baught our Rudd Guardian Pacemaker self cleaning hot water heater and after a few months it started to leak water out of the pressure relief value so i called them and they sent someone out to fix it. That lasted only 6 more months. So i called a plumber and he checked everything and he said it was another bad valve. My water pressure was fine and my plumbing was correct so i called again to let them know whats going on and they basically told me oh well. After a 2 years i started to notice rust in my hot water so i figured my town is working on the water but come to find out it was the hot water heater. I called RUDD and they sent someone out and they flushed the tank amd i explained that i do that evey 6 months as a part of their recommend maintenance. So he said i may need to do it sooner than 6 months. I explained that a 2 year old tank should not have rust in it and he told me because it is working they will not replace it ! I said thats crazy and called customer service and they agreed with the guy that came out and would not replace it. Well just after the warrantee ran out it burstef all over my basement after almost 3 years of washing up with muddy colored rusty water anx me flushing it once a month ! Their tanks are jumk and their warentee are worthless. I went and baught a diffrent hot water heater from another company and will never buy a RUDD again
