I purchased a Rheem 5 ton gas pack in Spring 1998. It is now mid January 2021 and had very good performance and reliability for 23 years. After the many years of service, the compressor is now beginning to work hard. I expect to replace the unit in the spring with another Rheem without hesitation. Over the years, I had invested about $1,000 total in repairs.
I live in Phoenix Arizona and the equipment is subject to intense sun and heat.
My only recommendation to the manufacturer is work on a more attractive cabinet design, since the unit is rooftop mounted for all to see.
4 years ago my uncle got a rheem gas/package air conditioner for our trailer. We rent from him. We’ve had the repair guy our for a couple of things to do with the heat but other than that it has worked okay. One of the problems was insects messing up the gas burners somehow and the other was some part that was under warranty.
