Heil Package Unit Reviews | Consumer Ratings

Efficiency ratings range from 13 SEER up to 16 SEER and 80 AFUE for the gas packs and 13 SEER to 15 SEER for the heat pump package units. Gas packs and package units, in general, do not come in efficiency ranges as high as split system air conditioners, heat pumps, or gas furnaces. Partially because package units are completely located outside and have jacket losses as well as other issues from operating outside in the outside ambient temperatures.

Always check with the dealer or manufacturer about warranty details, terms, and conditions. Additionally, always make sure you register the warranty as soon as possible after installation is complete. If you fail to do so the manufacturer may not honor the warranty. Questions | Heil Package Unit Reviews

One word of note. We noticed when looking at the technical details and comparing the features to other similar products that Heil uses a multi-speed blower motor. We do not know if this is a PSC motor or an ECM Variable speed blower motor. Perhaps a good question for the dealer. There are many advantages to having an ECM variable-speed blower motor over a typical PSC blower motor.

ECM blowers are more efficient and many manufacturers can program these motors for enhanced dehumidification in the summer. This makes you more comfortable. Comfort in addition to efficiency is why we recommend the ECM motors over the PSC motors. The downside is the repair costs. An ECM motor is typically more costly to replace if something goes wrong with it.

However, with a good warranty and proper maintenance, this should be a bigger factor than comfort and efficiency. At the time of this writing, we couldn’t find any other details about this motor.
