Lennox Package Unit Reviews - Lennox package units can be purchased configured as heat pump package units with dual-fuel, air conditioner package units with optional electric heat, and air conditioners with gas furnace all in one package also known as gas packs. Their package units are produced primarily for residential and light commercial applications. Lennox does produce large commercial units but their primary package unit applications are for residential and light commercial.
Lennox makes quality products that are a bit complex. I can say this with confidence because I’ve worked on several Lennox systems before including Lennox package units. About the only Lennox lags on with package units is the efficiency of their line of package units. They are all pretty much baseline efficiency. While you get the quality you also get the simple baseline efficiency rating as compared to other manufacturers if you are purchasing a package unit. Coming in at 14 SEER and 81% AFUE is about the minimum required by the Department of Energy and that’s what you will get from a Lennox package unit.

Lennox is not known for keeping things simple and I’ve often heard from others that some of their systems are over-engineered. I know this firsthand from working with a dealer. I wouldn’t say Lennox is a bad product though. They have had problems with certain things like other brands but overall produces quality products that look good, are reliable, and will keep you comfortable for many years.
As you read through any review of HVAC equipment you have to read through the review and understand that in many circumstances the installation is the core reason people have problems with any brand of HVAC equipment. This leads me back to the manufacturer and the training programs they offer (and sometimes require) their dealers.
A good HVAC contractor will install the system so that it will maintain comfortable temperatures in your home for many years of trouble-free operation. Unfortunately, there are some who will not. This goes back to training and they do a good job of offering their dealers training for both installations and service. Chances are when you call a Lennox dealer and hire them to install your new system you will a good reliable installation that will keep you comfortable for many years to come.

About a week after our new Lennox gas pack was installed it went out because of a bad circuit board. They came out and fixed it for no charge since it was so new. I didn’t even have to pay for labor. Now a year and a half later I have completely forgot about it. Never any trouble with it since. I hope it continues like that. In the meantime, I can say Lennox is good.
