Maytag Gas Furnace Reviews - Maytag HVAC equipment, including gas furnaces, are produced by Nordyne. The relationship between Maytag and Nordyne is not clear - does Nordyne lease the name Maytag for the products they produce, or does Maytag own Nordyne. Finally, perhaps we find the answer for you soon to keep you updated.
I was surprised when researching gas furnaces that list their highest efficiency gas furnace at 96% AFUE. Furthermore, this is a good AFUE rating for a gas furnace by an HVAC manufacturer. Finally, there is also no listing on the site that they are a member of AHRI, which certifies manufacturer efficiency claims.(more…)

Maytag M1200 Series Heat Pump Reviews - Consumer Ratings - Maytag is a name recognized for quality washing machines and dryers and the Maytag man offers a full line of air conditioning and heating equipment to compliment their washing machines and dryers (and the Maytag man). Their top-of-the-line heat pump is their 15+ SEER heat pump (currently up to 16 SEER and 9 HSPF efficiency rating for the M1200 series) which they call the M1200 Extra High-Efficiency Heat Pump. Maytag Air Conditioner Reviews | Consumer Ratings - Maytag lists their top-of-the-line air conditioner as 20 SEER with AHRI now certifying the results of their claim. It is believable watching their marketing video for their IQ drive system which uses inverter technology. However, much about HVAC forced air systems to require top-of-the-line installers to install the equipment exactly as designed.
After dissecting everything and reading all the information I could find on inverter technology. It is a variable frequency drive that is used in commercial air conditioning and heating systems. Inverter technology changes the frequency of the electricity going to the electric motor. In this case, the electric motor is an electric motor in the compressor which is a rotary compressor. (more…)
Subject: highperformancehvac.com: Maytag vs. Rheem gas-electric packaged heater AC
From: Steve
This is an inquiry e-mail via https://highperformancehvac.com
Hi, We’re trying to compare Maytag and Rheem gas/electric heating/AC packaged units to replace our old ones. The Maytag (15 SEER, 4 ton; PPG1GFX048120) has 2-stage heating and cooling and a variable-speed blower, and 12 years of parts and labor. The Rheem (14SEER, 4 ton; RRPL-B) has a single stage and variable speed blower, 10 yr parts and we can purchase a 10 yr labor warranty.
The Maytag has seemingly better features, but we’re not familiar with Maytag heater/AC units, but know the Rheem name, and have been told it’s highly rated. One heating and air conditioning company quoted the Maytag at more than $2500 less than two other companies quoted the Rheem.
Are you familiar with the Maytag, and do you know if it’s as reliable and as highly rated as the Rheem? Also, whether the wholesale price of the Maytag is that much less than the Rheem, or is the price difference more likely to different labor costs and profit margins of the installation companies?
HVAC Tip - Did you know the human body produces approximately 250 BTU/h when sleeping? Here is a basic list of the approximate BTU/h produced by the human body for various activities:
Watching Television - 400 BTU/h (any sedentary activity)
Cleaning the house - 700 BTU/h (moderate activity)
Mowing the Grass w/push mower - 1800 BTU/h (heavy activity)
Running a marathon - 2400 BTU/h (extreme activity)
The number of people occupying a dwelling or space is a consideration in the load calculation for sizing air conditioning systems simply because humans do give off heat. BTW, the Matrix over blew the numbers. In the movie Morpheus states humans give off over 25,000 BTU's. Only the author of this website is that hot..............))))))
