I have been getting emails asking me to review York gas furnaces. Other emails ask me why I don’t have any York gas furnace reviews on the site. Fact is I had a dispute with York and they way they initially rated their gas furnaces. There were several comments and emails from people who were furious with me because of that little dispute. It is suspected those were York dealers losing sales because of the bad review. I took York products of my site for a while and am slowly re-introducing their products as requests come in. York does comply with the new tests and while I do not agree with the test 100% I will go with it.
York does not do the testing for rating efficiency. This is done by an independent testing agency. They use testing standards written by the NSI (National Standards Institute) and they write those tests based on ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers) standards. When manufacturers changed the design of furnaces to improve efficiency they continued to use the old testing for single-stage gas furnaces to get an efficiency rating.
There are new tests for current furnaces and furnace designs and they are far more accurate than the previous tests used for efficiency. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, York makes quality products. I never denied that. I’ve worked on enough systems including York to see what everyone has and how they put their systems together. York stands up to the best of them as far as quality is concerned. This is a fresh review and I will not transfer the old review to this page. Now back to the review.

York Gas Furnace Top AFUE Rating
I always recommend purchasing an extended warranty especially if you are buying the premium top-tier modulating models. Some extended warranties, if available, are parts and labor warranties which is a win-win for the consumer. Don’t forget to register the warranty within the deadline period after installation. Otherwise the manufacturer may not honor any warranty. Lastly, I always recommend selecting a good contractor over any brand. The contractor can make the difference between a good installation or a bad installation. A bad installation will effect the efficiency and longevity of the equipment.

Our York system, which includes a gas furnace, has performed well for the last 3 years since we moved into this house. The landlord sends a guy out about every six months to check on things and make sure all is well and we change the filters on a regular basis.
We replaced an old Trane gas furnace with a new York Affinity. Right away we noticed a big difference in our gas bill which dropped significantly from when we used the Trane gas furnace. This furnace is a little quieter than the old furnace also which makes a big difference since the furnace is close to our bedroom. It sucks being woken up at night because the furnace is making a loud whooshing noise when it starts up. We don’t have that with this new York gas furnace. I know when winter comes I’ll be toasty and warm and also enjoy that in quiet.
York Affinity installed last October.
Editors note: Sorry we edited this review as we don’t give out prices. Prices for heating and cooling equipment can vary drastically because of many different factors and from region to region. Thanks for the review!!
Here in San Diego CA we typically wouldn’t need super advanced heat/cool, but the last few summers were brutal. We did look into many options before purchasing like brands and efficiency etc. It came down to contractor, which seems to be the only safe investment with these kind of purchases. The “best” contractor in SD uses York, so we decided on a good mid line system. AC is quiet and cools beautifully and the heater which doesn’t run much is nice because of the multi speed features. So far so good.
I HAD A YORK FURNACE INSTALLED IN 2015..MODEL TM9T120DMP11B… The Furnace makes a lot of noises that keep on growing, getting louder, with time. The installer send a factory rep that he made some adjustements but the improvement was minimum. Now the furnace started making a groin noise that comes on when the fan motor is about to start. I don’t know if this model has design issues or my furnace happens to be a “Lemon”…. I thought I bought a top of the line furnace but this unit is a piece of “s..t”. Any advice who I should be talking too to get some corrective action will be highly appreciatted…
I HAD A YORK FURNACE INSTALLED IN 2015..MODEL TM9T120DMP11B… SERIAL NUMBER W1N5242852… It replaced a 20 year old furnace. The noise coming out of this new furnace were loud and loudeness is growing with time. I had the factory rep come to see it and make adjustments but the impact was minimum to the noise. Now I can not stand a groin noise that is coming right before the fan kicks in. Sounds like a bad fan motor starting noise. Very dissapointed with buying a York.

Call York customer/technical support at (877) 874-7378. Be sure to have model and serial number. Follow the prompts. Be specific about repairs that were performed. The technician(s) should have described the work and troubleshooting performed on the furnace. Be sure to have those summaries when speaking to a representative over the phone. Describe what the furnace is doing. Sometimes the installation could be source of your problem.
