Have a climatemaster 27 unit installed in 08 with no money ever spent on repairs to date. Do suppliment heat with woodburning insert in winter months(3200 sf brick ranch in Ohio). Do monitor loop temps,pressures,amps,hours(about 10k), with occasional pan drain plug,and “top off loop” pressure every other year,has run flawlessly. It’s a keeper!!! (5 ton unit,all electric home except cooktop,and never a bill over $140/ mo.
I have had a water to water heat pump from climate master for 15 years it has not worked properly in all that time keeps locking out. when it works its great but that is only half the time. yearly repair bills average $2000.00 service guys keep giving me different stories. Company has been know help at all and has left the service guys hanging

Well, I asked my existing HVAC service company to price ground source geothermal when my gas furnace was falling in 2014. They came back with a reasonable quote using the Climatemaster Tranquility 30. Early on we had the main pump replaced because it was making unacceptable noise. After that, the only thing requiring replacement was the main circuit board. It’s now over 8.5 years and it’s working fine.
Installed our ClimateMaster geothermal units in 2009. Within 2 years coils had failed on two units requiring replacement. They were covered partially under warranty. 5 years later three other coils failed and a compressor. Parts were covered but not the labor. Now the coils that were replaced are failing costing $2000 apiece to replace them. I would never buy another ClimateMaster.
Their systems are garbage, it would’ve been much cheaper to burn oil or gas.
Climate master is a huge bureaucracy, dealing with them is worse than dealing with the government
Do not buy a climate master heat pumps or geothermal. The warranty is horrible . I replaced a compressor in my geothermal unit . It had to be replaced again after less then 120 day . The manufacture told me it only had a 90 day warranty. Other manufactures offer 10 year plus in warranty. Client master was no help at all. Company is junk just like the compressors.

I purchased my Climate Master 27 geothermal heat pump in 2011. I have had maint problems in 2014 and now in 2019, I had a part go out and a pitted fitting that had to be brazed with freon leaking. I also had the compressor leaking and the repair bill was over $10,000 so I had a Water Furnace installed. I would not recommend a climate master furnace. I called climate master and they referred me to the local distributor that said they doubted Climate Master would hel pay for the repair.

I have had a Climate Master GSW 120 unit since in a newly constructed house since 2004, 18 years of experience. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this product. It has been a maintenance nightmare. It consists of two heat pumps, 5 ton each. They heat and cooI my entire house, but I have been unable to leave the house unattended in the winter due to frequent capacitor failures. A capacitor failure results in attempted compressor starts every 2 minutes. I have also had TWO compressor failures in 14 years. The first one failed at 12 years, and the most recent one failed after being in service for only 2 yrs and 4 months (first replacement cost $2444, warrantied for one year). I am now looking at having the whole system replaced with a different brand. With the repeated capacitor failures I have learned how to replace them myself. I always keep a spare one on hand. This is not a set and forget unit. My contractor has stopped installations on Climate Master units due to similar issues with other customers.
My Climatemaster Tranquility TES-038 was installed in June 2014 and has had zero problems. It would appear installer is primary factor in reliability.
My climate master tranquility 30 system is almost 4 years old.I am close to $3500 in repairs so far.The system has freon leaks roughly every 6 months or so. I have had 3 hvac contractors work on it and they say the leaks are in different areas every time.The contractor that installed it C&D out of Jarettsville MD. changed thier name to First Response and said they are not liable for anything. I would look elsewhere if you are in the market for Geothermal.
I would like to add that on Feb 1 the compressor went up. A Reputable contractor suggested that we get a new system. We are going to call climate master and see how good their warranty system is. I will keep you posted .
I would like to add that after many emails and phone calls my climatemaster approved hvac contractor told me that climatemaster will only pay $500 toward a new unit.They were the 3rd contractor to tell me my unit is toast. So much for a 10year parts and 5 year labor warranty.We will be contacting an attorney that my wife was a paralegal for a few years ago.
I would also like to add that in Maryland our January electric bill with a working climatemaster was $460 and in Febuary on all electric emergency heat it was $422. Go figure!
After months of negotiations Climate Master agreed to give us a new system. We had to pay $1150 of the $2100 installation fee.So their 5 year labor warranty is a less than half of a warranty. My 10 year parts and 5 year less than half labor warranty starts when my first system was installed.So far after 2 days its still working fine.

4 year old system has cost me 4000$ dollars son far seems parts keep failing …
I am looking to buy a geothermal unit within the next 2 weeks and our HVAC contractor is recommending a Climate-Master. After reading these and other reviews, I am becoming less convinced this brand is going to provide a decent payback and with no problems! The contractor is very reputable and our electric bills are about $700 per month from December thru February and about $500 per month in November and March. Any other suggested brand or advice? My personal opinion is that it is the equipment is only as good as the installing contractor. If the contractor is solid, stands behind the product, and offers a great warranty (contractor warranty) then you are good to go. Installation is key. A properly installed system WILL NOT have the same problems as a system that is not installed properly.
We have total of three split system climate masters installed in 2013. One had a leak two years after installation, then failed again 2 years later. A service man could not find the leak, so bypassed the shut off valve. The other two units must have picked up burden as we didn’t notice an problems until a second unit failed. Climate master insisted the installer didn’t register two of the new home construction units. We did however find a distributor who was I’d he would provide the parts. The problem is that no one wants to service the units saying the leaks are too hard to find, the compressors may be bad, and the refrigerant is expensive, the warranty end this December.
Please tell me in your opinion, what does a good contractor mean? How long should work be guaranteed for?
Please what does a properly installed system mean?
I found a new contractor, but not sure he meets your advice.
We have a climate master since 2008. This year is the first time something went out. Condenser and replacement was $2600. Our avg electric bill is $200 heating and cooling 3600 sqft in Ohio.
Good luck, If Something Happens under warranty you have to fight with them to get any coverage. After at least 20 phone calls and well over 30 emails fighting with them we finally got a new system and still had to pay for most of the labor and it was only three years old
We installed Climatemasters system in June 2014 and have had no issues. We pay maintenance contract to have them come check the system out twice a year. System has handled heating loads down to 9 degrees F. Only run backup oil furnace a couple times a year to keep cobwebs from collecting and to keep fuel fresh. We do add treatment to fuel oil tank to prevent critters from growing in it.

We had a Climate master system install a little over two years ago. Worse mistake we ever made. Our electric bills, we were told before buying, would average 79 a month for heating cooling and hot water costs. Given our bills averaged about 75 dollars a month we were expecting no more than 150 on average. Sadly, our bills are well over $200 month, and this is with keeping our heat set lower than they used in their analysis, and the air conditioning set lower than they used. We tried to work with the installer to figure out the problem, and I can happily say I think they did everything they could to help out, including replacing both water heaters. Climate master even came out and they say they tested the system and it is performing as it should. Someone isn’t telling the truth, and I look forward to the day that we see a class action uprising. I just paid our last electric bill, and yes, it has been very cold here in MI, but the bill this month, $325!! Even in the months like May or September when the system is not even running much our bill is up around $150. Our highest bill before geo was no where near $150. Maybe I am looking at all this wrong because we were on propane before, with a gas water heater. No we are all electric so it isn’t exactly easy to compare apples to apples. Anyone else experiencing the same nightmare?

Sounds to me like the unit was not sized properly for the BTU’s needed. This is why it is important to select the right HVAC contractor for installation of any HVAC equipment including Geothermal Systems. Always read the fine print but if I buy a parts and labor warranty it should cover PARTS and LABOR 100% sometimes less a small deductible that some companies charge.

Harry i would agree. The company has not changed in the past 10 yrs. Sat In a cold house for 5yrs. so the unit would not lock up in the winters. Each time the installer came out he would call climate master and they would say the unit was working with in specifications. I think they were both idiots in their field. i gave up after 3yrs and stayed cold. At five years , i called a new company. They said the compressors were junk, Had them replaced, out of warranty of coarse, system worked perfect for about 6yrs. Now other parts are failing..FYI hire the right hvac contractor and don’t waste your time and money on a climate master. They will not help you or stand behind their product

Hi All,
Such a bunch of bad news…I’ve installed many ClimateMaster units and never had a failure of any kind and my clients brag about their low power bills. When geo was taking off, all sorts of opportunists entered the market, completely clueless about geo. It’s simply physics. If you don’t understand physics you should stick to being a plumber or sheetmetal guy and don’t give geo a bad name. If you do it right, it works every single time!

I work in a commercial building in tempe Az. Its always hot even in the winter. Every new wshp in this building is climate master and I grunt every time I find out that I will be working on one. I have encountered so many problems with these units even a brand new one that was sent to me with a leaking evaporator. It sucks to work all night on replacing a wshp just to find out the brand new unit is malfunctioning. I asked my rep for a new unit put he said he can only replace the part and will pay me for my labor. I never got paid from mechanical products for my labor. There have been so many units that have leaks or other malfunctions in this building. I will never purchase another climate junk again

I am a a licensed mechanical contractor and certified in geothermal. I have never had any problems with ClimateMaster, customers save 40 to 50 percent over air to air systems.Could it be that I put in in right to start with?
