Condensation Pump Evaporator Coil Drain - Little Giant Air Handler Drain Pump

This Little Giant Air Handler Drain Pump pumps the moisture produced by the evaporator coil to a location where the water will not cause water damage. These pumps are ideal when there is no grade available to drain the air handler evaporator coil condensation water to a good drainage area. The Little Giant air handler drain pump has a float inside and as the small holding container fills up the float rises. When the float gets to a certain point it closes a switch and the pump kicks on pump the water through a tube to the drain location.

Properly draining the condensation water away from the air handlers is essential to prevent water damage and mold growth. Condensation draining problems account for many service calls for air conditioning and heating service contractors and the typically problems include but are not limited to:

• Plugged condensation piping
• Damaged piping
• Evaporator coil drain pan broke or with rust holes
• Frozen coils defrosting and overwhelming the drain
• Bad condensation drain pump

Some of these common condensation drain problems can be avoided with regular preventive maintenance. Additionally, for those with air handlers in the attic can have an extra measure of protection by having a secondary drain pan under the air handler and a float switch in the secondary pan that will disable the air conditioner if the secondary pan starts to fill with condensation. That should only happen if the primary and secondary drain plugs.
