Ruud Heat Pump Reviews

Ruud is directly related to Rheem. Rheem and Rudd are sister companies under Japanese water heater manufacturer Paloma so the Rheem and Rudd product line is similar in technical features but different in name and sometimes color.

Ruud is not clear about efficiency ratings for the Ruud heat pumps in their product line-up. Ruud publishes that they offer heat pumps up to 17 SEER but give no HSPF rating which is how heat pumps are rated for efficiency purposes. Ruud is a member of AHRI so whatever efficiency ratings they list are certified by AHRI. Rheem heat pumps for selected Ruud heat pump models come with features such as:

• Tw-Stage compressors in selected high efficiency models for better energy efficiency


• Diagnostics control board for easier heat pump troubleshooting


• Humidity control when matched with the proper air handler


• pressure controls to prevent the unit from running when there is serious problem with heat pump pressures
