The Burnham Alpine hot water boiler, while it looks like a refrigerator, offers efficiency to 95% AFUE in 7 sizes from 80,000 BTU’s to 500,000 BTU’s. It is available only for natural gas or propane fuels and uses CPVC/PVC or Polypropylene or Stainless steel for venting combustion gases. The Burnham Alpine is designed to use 100% outside air for combustion air. This eliminates the boiler using air from inside the structure for combustion air which is safer for the occupants. Aside from the efficiency AFUE rating of 95% the most important thing about the Burnham Alpine model boiler is that it has fully modulating boiler operating controls which means it has a wide range of firing rates based on demand. Modulating controls make this boiler an energy saver for the owner. The Burnham Alpine Hot Water Boiler is a condensing boiler with a stainless steel heat exchanger for durable and long use. The Alpine model heat exchanger boiler is also approved by ASME and the boiler ratings published by Burnham are certifed by GAMA (now AHRI).

Looking at the installation manual for the Burnham Alpine boiler you have the option of hooking up a domestic indirect fired water heater for domestic hot water use. The boiler controls are simple and easy to hook up for an installation technician and Burnham offers a great five year warranty for no additional cost. Make sure you register at Burnhams Website within 90 days of installation to get the warranty. Looking at the condensation drain it looks like it is cheap plastic but for all condensing furnaces and boilers it is best to use plastic for the condensation drains because of corrosion factors. Metal drains will corrode so the plastic drain is better for condensing boilers or furnaces. One last thing about the Burnham Alpine hot water boiler…………..it is stackable so additional boilers can be stacked one on top of the other for saving space. This makes it ideal for locations where space is at a premium. Overall, I am giving the Burnham Alpine hot water boiler a 5 rating.
