In this section you will find articles concerning HVAC Controls Systems. HVAC Control System are typically referred to as BAS or Building Automation System, DDC or Direct Digital Control, BMS or Building Management System, ECMS or Energy Control Management System, and EMS or Energy Management System among other possible names assigned to HVAC Controls. Personally, I refer to HVAC Controls as DDC but because of technicalities, formalities and the job I am working on HVAC Controls can be named anyone of the above. Of course there are HVAC Controls in the residential HVAC but what is here currently in this section is exclusively Commercial HVAC Applications. However, sometimes the tail wags the dog and some of these concepts and ideas can be found being developed in the residential HVAC Controls markets. The reference to HVAC Controls on High Performance HVAC is a reference to DDC Controls (DDC Controls is a redundant statement I know) which is a system of control using microprocessors for precision control and control strategies that reduce energy use, make people more comfortable, and offer the ability to collect and store data. Reducing energy consumption is important and saves the building owners (or whoever is paying the utility bill) a lot of money. Therefore the high cost of installation for a good DDC Controls System is quickly recouped through the savings from the energy bill.
